About Springtide Marine
Springtide Marine is a family-owned marine construction and waterfront services business based in Freeport, Maine, serving Casco Bay and surrounding coastal communities. Founded by Bradley and Alexis Grillo in October 2025, the company brings together hands-on building experience, thoughtful project planning, and a personal connection to the coast.
From our shop on the Harraseeket River, we work with waterfront homeowners, local municipalities, and businesses and organizations that rely on access to the water. Our work includes planning, permitting, and building docks, piers, and floats; seasonal installation and removal; mooring service; and assessment and repair of existing structures. Whether we’re building a new system or maintaining one that’s been in place for years, our goal is to keep it working well through Maine’s changing seasons.
Responsive to a Changing Coast
Every waterfront project starts with understanding the place and the people who use it. Shoreline conditions, tidal range, weather exposure, and seasonal use all influence what a system needs to do. We consider those details together, developing solutions that balance strength, flexibility, and a sense of proportion.
Our projects range from residential piers to custom floats that support local aquaculture. We fabricate components in our Freeport shop and use our barge and crane to transport and install structures on the waterfront. Assessment, repairs, and seasonal service carry that work forward, helping clients care for their systems over time.
Across these projects, we bring the same close attention to how a structure functions, how it fits its surroundings, and how construction interacts with the shoreline. We value the opportunity to help people live, work, and spend time on the water, and take seriously the responsibility of building in these environments.
Bradley and Alexis Grillo, owners of Springtide Marine.
Bradley and Alexis first met as freshmen at Alfred University in 2004. Their shared life of building and making began in 2013, when Alexis joined Bradley in Harpswell as he completed an extensive rebuild of what became their first home together. Finishing the remaining renovations was the first of many projects they would take on together.
After marrying in 2017, they bought a property on the Harraseeket River in Freeport and undertook another substantial rebuild, taking the house down to its framing and rebuilding it together. Their work has extended across the property, removing invasive plants, establishing gardens, and building the workshop that now serves as Springtide Marine’s base. Today, they share their home with their daughter, Arlo, and miniature poodle, Penny.
With family nearby and strong connections among neighbors, friends, and fellow small business owners, Freeport is both their home and their community. Springtide Marine grows from those connections and a commitment to the waterfront that is part of their everyday lives.
